Our Bucks

A herd's bucks are without doubt its most important assets--or its greatest limitations. At Verdant Vistas, special care has been taken to select the very best from our own offspring and to purchase high quality buck stock from reputable breeders. The result is a "buck team" that produces outstanding kids with our excellent does, including young "herd sires" who are now found in six different states across the country. This year, half our fellows are "new" and we are thrilled about what they will bring to the conformation, color, fiber and dispositions of their offspring. Can't wait for Spring 2008!

Verdant Vistas Dwaine

Registration #:
07-12M
Color:
Solid Black

Fleece Type: B-Brown
Sire: Baker Ridge Arvydas

Dam: Verdant Vistas Black Velvet
Fall '07 Mates:
VV Maeve, SCF Shimeeka

Here's a fellow whose matchless fleece and strong bucky body reflect the legacy of a host of distinguished ancestors. If that weren't enough, Dwaine has a confident, sparkling personality that attracts 2-legged & 4-legged creatures alike. His sire & dam come from outstanding Pygora lines with multiple prize-winning bucks. Mom, VV Black Velvet, is Peppermint Pastures Pygoras Morris' daughter who often wins fiber competitions over does & wethers. Her mom's side features the distinguished buck Windshadows Woodruff. Dwaine's sire is BR Arvydas whose pedigree traces back to Misty Meadow's Valentino (1988), one of the few original black Pygora bucks from Katharine Jorgensen.

Bryn Hollow Farm Flannery (PCA Buck)

Color: Red
Fleece Type:
A-Lt. Red
Sire:
Goose Creek Farm Jackson
Dam: Highland Ridge Farm Kitten (Colored Angora)
Fall '07 Mates: VV Treasa, Shaggy Bear Farms Concertina

Flan is a fellow with shiny red curls to die for. Coming to us last spring from Bryn Hollow Farm, he is charged with taking us into the fiber-fabulous world of PCA goats (see feature on our Home Page). Flan is the son of repeat-Champion PBA buck GCF Jackson and pretty Colored Angora doe, HRF Kitten. He had absolutely no trouble handling his first-time siring job this fall--such the man!
Verdant Vistas Ian

Registration #:
06-24M
Color: Black
Fleece Type: B Med. Brown
Sire: HMF Killian's Red
Dam: GCF Charlott
Fall '07 Mates: VV Colene, VV Willow, WWP Naomi

Moving into a senior role in our buck team is the son of our long-time herd sire, Killian's Red. Killian left us Ian (and a group of other outstanding offspring) when he went to live in Colorado at the Smokey Summit Ranch. As Ian grew, we knew we had a jewel in his perfect form, fantastic fleece and appealing personality. His 'coming out' was at the 2006 Bold & Beautiful Buck Show where he won Reserve Champion Junior Buck. His fiber is dense and soft, evenly covering his whole body. Like his sire, Ian has the genes to throw kids of many colors (e.g., his brother is red): caramel, black, red. He's a versatile guy with an irresistible personality!

McTimmonds Valley Farm Sabastian

Registration #: 03-35M
Color:
Medium Caramel
Fleece Type: A/B Medium Caramel

Sire: VV Mulligan
Dam: MVF Helena
Fall '06 Mates: VV Grainne, ABF Ruby

Seldom is it possible to have real 'second chances' but, for us, Sabastian is almost too good to be true. Our Guinness' death left a huge hole in our buck team, and in our hearts. We'll be forever grateful to Lillie from Pygoras East who let us bring VV Guinness' grandson (and the late VV Mulligan's son), Sabastian, back to the west coast to live with us. Sabastian is as perfect a fellow as can be found. His fiber is thick with beautiful locks, the gift of his caramel Type A-fiber mom, Helena. His temperament is gentle and warm--to humans and goat ladies alike.
