The Verdant Vistas Kids of 2005

Verdant Vistas offers you a rainbow of gorgeous kids and raw and processed fiber--reds, browns, blacks, caramels and whites. Our 2005 kids are all sold but, if you would like information and materials about Pygora goats and/or contact info for breeders who still have kids and adults for sale, please write or call us. If you want to be put on a list for "early notice" of future available animals, just let us know.

Fabulous Fun and Fiber too!

First-born Ebony is a little girl who knew how to take care of herself from the beginning! Each morning for breakfast at the hay feeder, she spotted the nearest mom's backside and used it as a ramp to vault herself up to the top. She ate her fill and then hopped down upon a flat back and to the ground. Smart moms began to see her coming and waited until she was up to their necks and then gave their heads a quick side-snap and sent Ebony flying! Her fleece is very soft, straight and thick--probably will be a B/C type like her mom. Her reddish sister was born dead but Ebony waited patiently to make her appearance and now is strong, confident and very capable. She and her pal Tessa now live in a busy, happy home in southern Washington State. VV Ebony

Lou-Lou and Lacey Lou took their milk supply (mom Lucy) with them and headed off for their new home in early May. They are an exceptional pair with gorgeous white fleeces and warm and "busy" personalities. Lou-Lou weighed 8 pounds when he was born and will keep new mom Mary busy with LARGE amounts of fiber, no doubt harvested at least 2X/year. Their pop, Trouble, seems to have cloned himself in these kids but the softness of their fiber suggests that mom's very nice B/C coat may be lurking there too. The siblings have a wonderful new home joining a herd of llamas and a couple yearling Pygora wethers who are showing them the ropes. Three more spring kid friends came later so they suddenly became big sister and brother and are busy passing on their 'wisdom'. VV Lou-Lou and Lacey Lou

Molly and Patrick are VERY good friends so it's great that Bonnie invited them both to live with her in Arkansas. They will join 2004 VV travelers, Nell and Vinny, as well as other goats and dogs, in a lush green southern setting. Molly's fiber is especially thick and wavy; Patrick's is soft and very white. They are a playful pair and will add very different colors and bloodlines to their new herd. Nell and, in another year, Molly, look forward to visiting VV Rory who lives "up north" on the AR/MO border and then coming home to give Bonnie's herd a boost in numbers. VV Molly & Patrick

These two jazzy ladies are now southern belles enjoying their new home in eastern Tennessee. Slate grey, Rhea, is her mother Breda's child while Spica gets her coloring from her dark father Bart. At first, the girls couldn't figure out their new farm mates--large & small horses, chickens and unfamiliar dogs & cats. We wonder if they remember old friends and family as they join their new pasturemates at Pans Place Farm under the loving care of their folks, Kim & Sharon Doubleday. Some lucky girls! These are two handsome fellows who look as different as two brothers can possibly look. However, even though their fleeces are contrasting colors, both are long, thick and pillow soft. Both boys are loving and make their humans feel extra special. Eli now lives with Lindsay & Fiona (and some other Pygora friends) in northeast Washington at Cattail Meadows Farm. We'd like Aiden to be able to stay at Verdant Vistas with us and join our distinguished buck team. VV Eli & Aiden

These two fair damsels are California lasses now as they joined two of our 2004 black doelings, Noni & Tegan. One of our two 2005 sets of identical twins, the girls are dainty, sweet and have their mom's (Maeve) fantastic fleece. Daisy and Sweet Clover are now 2 of 4 goats in a family of showstopping Cardigan Corgis. They plan to end up on a long-term vacation in beautiful Lake Shasta land. VV Daisy & Sweet Clover

As white as snow and as dark as night, these lucky girls now have wonderful homes on opposite ends of Washington State. White Lindsay is the curliest child we've every had. Her pretty ringlets--no doubt a gift from mother Kora--cover her body from head to toe. She joined Eli and Fiona at Cattail Meadows Farm just north of Spokane. Ink-black Cinderella is a Whidbey Island resident and lives with Lucy, Lou-Lou and Lacey Lou at merry-b d-Llama't Lland. Her fleece is coal black, very thick and very silky. Sire Killian is versatile in the colors he throws with kids ranging from light caramel, red, black and white! VV Lindsay & Cinderella

Flynn and Fiona are the prize of our first try at breeding our beloved Picabo with super-fleecer Trouble. Their kids got Picabo's light caramel coloring and Trouble's long, thick fiber--plus both of their folks' wonderful personalities. Fiona joined Lindsay and Eli at Cattail Meadows Farm in Deer Park, WA. Hers and Eli's lovely fleeces returned to Oregon, however, for the 2005 Flock & Fiber Festival. Flynn has gone to live with Sofie at the High Spice Alpaca Farm in Cripple Creek, Colorado. That's high up in those Rocky Mountains (so now is he a Mountain Goat?). VV Flynn & Fiona

Mom Charlott and Pop Guinness come up with colorful children like this pair every year. Shaughnessey is the reddest of the red and headed off to Chalk Bluff Farms in northern Arkansas where he will work hard at building the numbers of their growing red Pygora herd. Orlagh ("Golden Princess") now lives in Snohomish, Washington and is one of the first members of Curly Q Caprines with Alex as her new mom. Both kids are lucky little goats who will bring lots of joy to their new families. VV Shaughnessey (buckling) & Orlagh

Sincha is really another Aiden in color and form. However, he was born later and became a wether so his life will be calmer with less responsibility and pressure. His pretty color and yummy fiber comes from the union of our Bridget and the handsome brown & black Peppermint Pastures Pachuca. We're especially pleased that Sincha's new home is "just around the corner" so we can drop by on occasion. VV Bridget's wether

All the credit for these lovely girls goes to Goose Creek Farm. We bought GCF Bee Bop a Lula in January bred to HMR Gundar and Sterling and Willow were born 3 months later. These girls are our second set of 2005 identical twins, but their personalities are somewhat different. Sterling is a little shyer while Willow is more outgoing--and naughty! So, while Sterling's fleece came in first and full, Willow was perfecting the art of sneaking out any stall door opened more than 2 inches (she caught up in the fiber department while she was at it though). Sterling joined several other VV offspring at Pan's Place with Kim & Sharon Doubleday in eastern Tennessee (lucky lass). Willow stayed with us and is the spitting image of her lovely mom--but still has a most mischievous (but lovable) streak! VV Sterling & Willow

Sofie is the last-born of our 2005 Spring kids and the smallest of our flock. Her fleece is thick and full, making her one little puff ball. On the other hand, her size conceals a girl with lots of spunk and capability. Her conformation is exceptional, the model of a perfect square. She reflects the best of her parents, our Ruby and GCF Jackson from Bryn Hollow Farm. She's somewhat shy, but also a very affectionate cuddler when held. We can't quite picture what she'll be like when she grows up but are sure it will be something special. She is now living high in the Colorado Rockies with Flynn, a herd of Alpacas, and Suzanne at the High Spice Alpaca Farm. VV Sofie
