EVENTS & AIDS

Carrie introduces VV Annalisa and VV Ebony to visitors at the 2007 Oregon Ag Fest.

When we were in the final stages of deciding upon our "farm enterprise", a most important consideration that settled us on Pygora goats was the prospect of a group of fellow breeders who could be called upon for help and advice. The breeders who sold to us were generous with their information and support. Bimonthly gatherings of the Northwest Pygora Club were invaluable for ideas and resources. In addition, our veterinarian, farm store attendants, experienced goat people with other breeds and the new Pygora owners we sold to taught us very important lessons. We gathered useful printed, video and online references, including those of the Pygora Breeders Association. And, we participated in the many Oregon events and shows that involved Pygora goats, other fiber animals and fiber and fiber products. Meanwhile, we "practiced" our new-found knowledge and skills on our patient and resilient caprines.

Our learning curve has been steep and filled with excitement and adventure. On these pages, we'd like to share some of the resources that have helped us most in hope that they will be useful to you.
